Three men who we reported on last week after properties across the Greater Manchester area were cordoned off by Counter Terrorism Policing North West investigating terrorism offences have now been charged.
In a statement released by the force, Greater Manchester Police said, “Three men have been charged as part of an ongoing investigation being carried out by Counter Terrorism Policing North West.
Walid Saadaoui (06/06/1987), of Crankwood Road, Abram, and Amar Hussein (25/05/1973), of no fixed address, have been charged with preparation of terrorist acts, contrary to section 5(1)(a) of the Terrorism Act 2006.
Bilel Saadaoui (01/01/1989), of Fairclough Street, Hindley, has been charged with failure to disclose information about an act of terrorism.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorised the charges today (Monday 13 May 2024).
All three have been remanded to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday 14 May 2024.
Cordons had been put in place at four addresses in Wigan and Bolton, with local officers patrolling the affected areas. These scenes have now been lifted and we thank local communities for their patience and co-operation.
