Police have arrested a man after a spate of burglaries across Preston over the weekend.

Houses were targeted in Fulwood, Ashton-on-Ribble, and the Ingol area where the suspect had entered properties through unlocked doors and distracted another by asking for a drink and then stealing a wallet.

In a social media post, Preston Police said,

We have arrested a man following a spate of burglaries and attempted burglaries across Preston.

“We were first called at around 4.30pm on Sunday (12th May, 2024) to a house in Fulwood following reports that a man had entered through an unlocked door.

We were later called to a property in Ashton-on-Ribble following similar reports. On both of those occasions, the man left when challenged, and nothing was taken.

At 7.10pm, we were called to a house in Ingol to report that a man had distracted the victim by asking for a glass of water. Whilst distracted, a wallet was stolen from the house.

Following enquiries made by the South Residential Burglary Team, a 51 year old man from Preston, has been arrested on suspicion of burglary in a dwelling and is currently in custody.
