Over the weekend we’ve seen glorious sunshine, which means more people flock to the seaside to enjoy all the delights the Fylde have to offer like Sandy beaches, deck-chairs and of course ice-cream,
But for the HM Coastguard this means more call outs especially in the evening as this weekend saw the Northern lights (Aurora) shine through the skies over the Fylde Coast.

So what have the HM Coastguard been up to. Find out below.
In a social media post, HM Coastguard Fleetwod said, “Summer may not have officially started yet, but nobody has told the call out numbers that. Since last posting on 5th May, we have had 14 call outs.
There have been several person’s in water and missing persons. We had two missing children in Lytham who were quickly located.
Friday Night – Saturday Morning, there were 4 call outs under the lights of the aurora, which made for some interesting photo opportunities.

We were called to North Pier at 23:20 over concerns for a person in the water. We were then tasked to Cleveleys to locate an unmanned boat seen floating off shore, apparently unoccupied. This was recovered and handed over to us by RNLI Blackpool.

Upon returning to the station, we were again tasked to a missing person near the mirror ball in South Shore. Again, this situation was quickly resolved, so we returned to station and then home to bed, only to be tasked again back so South Shore. We made it back home at about 04.30.
Sunday has so far been equally busy, but we’ll save that for the next post..
