Our officers signalled for a yellow Mercedes to stop yesterday, but it sped up, driving through the town centre. Our officers pulled into a multi-storey carpark in Blackburn, just as the occupants got out of their vehicle. They then began to run off and were pursued by our officers. At around 3pm on Friday, May 3, our officers signalled for a grey Suzuki Grand Vitara to stop. The Suzuki instead continued to drive on, speeding up and weaving through the lanes, driving on the hard shoulder at 80mph.
But if speeding up wasn’t enough, he then left the motorway at junction 31, travelling the wrong way down the A59. The vehicle was stung but continued to drive off. He was eventually brought to a stop by our officers.
A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug driving.
Patrick McCann, 25, was later charged with failing to stop, dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and theft from a motor vehicle. He was remanded into custody to appear at Preston Magistrates Court yesterday.
The following day, a Mercedes A class was stopped in Preston. It was found to have around £22,000 cash inside.
