Drinking On Shift – Breaching Covid Regulations – These Are The Three Merseyside Police Officers Facing Misconduct Hearings

Three police officers are to face misconduct hearings in Merseyside this month after allegedly drinking alcohol on shift and breaching covid-19 regulations.

First up, Sergeant 3900 THOMPSON will face the following allegations at the level of gross misconduct, it is a alleged that he had lied to his colleagues when asked if he had consumed alcohol whilst on shift at the police station.

The force accuses Sgt Thompson of breaching Honesty and Integrity, In that the officer dishonestly stated to a Detective Sergeant and Detective Constable that they had not been drinking whilst at St Anne Street Police Station on 8 January 2024.

It is also alleged that the officer refused a lawful order to provide a breath test at St Anne Street Police Station on 8 January 2024 when required to do so.

The Discreditable Conduct is that by acting in the manner as described above the officer has brought the police service into disrepute.

Next up, PC Daniel Johnson is accused of removing property without permission and carrying out domestic chores whilst on duty along with a list of other allegations set out below

The allegations are that the officer removed an item of police property without permission, which demonstrates a lack integrity and could have the potential to discredit the police service.

The officer conducted domestic chores whilst on duty and consumed alcohol, therefore he was not fit to execute his duties and responsibilities.

The officer was in contravention of legislation surround the COVID19 public health crisis by holding a birthday party at his home address, despite restrictions being in place.

Finally, the officer sent and received messages to colleagues that were racist and homophobic.

To finish off, PC Idris Saroke a former Merseyside Police officer is accused of driving a motor vehicle whilst intoxicated.

The former officer is alleged to have made off from the scene of a crash, making off from police officers, assaulting a PC and being untruthful as to who was driving the vehicle. It is also alleged the officer drove a vehicle that was not in roadworthy condition.

All three officers will face hearings at Merseyside Police’s headquarters with Sgt Thompsons hearing starting today, Tuesday 7th May 2024 with PC Johnsons starting next week Monday 13th May 2024 and PC Idris Saroke being held in June.
