Dramatic Scenes As Fire Tore Through Blackburn Bus

Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service alongside partner agencies attended Blackburn bus station this morning,Tuesday 7th May to a bus fire.

Images and footage posted on social media shows a double decker bus well alight and Fire fighters tackling the Blaze.

The roads around the bus station were closed by Lancashire Police as the incident was dealt with. In a post on social media it said, “Officers are on scene at Blackburn Bus Station assisting our colleagues from the Fire service with an incident. Railway Road leading to the station and surrounding streets have been closed. Please plan your route accordingly to avoid the area.

Lancashire Fire & Rescue said, “Two fire engines and an aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn were called to the fire involving a bus at Blackburn bus station.

“Firefighters used three jets to extinguish the fire and crews are checking to see if the fire has spread to the bus station. No rescues or injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”

The fire is thought to have started around 11:15am this morning, the bus station was closed whilst the clean up operation began, buses were still accessible along Penny Street.

Blackburn bus station returned to being open mid afternoon.
