Police Appeal After Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In M65 Collision

A man has been left with serious injuries  after the motorcycle he was riding collided with the central reservation on the M65 near Blackburn  yesterday afternoon, Sunday 5th May.

A Large multi-agency emergency response attended the scene at around 3.25pm between junctions 4 and junctions 5, with carriageways in both directions force to close as investigations into the accident went underway.

In a statement made today, Lancashire Police said, “Yesterday, we told you about a collision on the M65, which led to the motorway being closed for a while.

This morning, we have an update to bring you, and are appealing for any witnesses, and dashcam footage.

At around 3:25pm yesterday (May 5), we were called to a report of a Triumph Tiger 1050 motorbike colliding with the central reservation on the M65 Eastbound, between junctions 4 and 5.

A 59-year-old man suffered serious, life-changing injuries, and was taken to hospital.

First and foremost, our thoughts are with the injured man, and his loved ones at this challenging time.

We’re now appealing to you, the public, to ask that if you have any dashcam footage from the M65, between junctions 1 and 5, between 3:15 and 3:25 pm, to please get in touch.

We are also keen to speak with any other drivers, particularly any other motorcyclists, who were travelling Eastbound around this time, and may have witnessed the collision or stopped at the scene.

Thank you for your patience whilst the motorway was closed for a few hours yesterday, as the man was taken to hospital, and we carried out our enquiries.
