Busy Start To the Month For HM Coastguard Fleetwood

The start of May has seen a very busy night for HM Coastguard on the Fylde.

In a social media post HM Coastguard Fleetwood said, “A further busy day and night of taskings. Starting at 13:50 with a call to concerns for a person entering the water near the Gynn, this person was recovered by RNLI Blackpool and taken to the boathouse for medical attention.

We were then paged for a person in the water at 18:43, we attended with NW Ambulance Service, Blackpool Police and RNLI Blackpool again.

At 23:00 we were again paged to attend concerns around an abandoned bike on the promenade and assisted police in its removal and an brief associated investigation of the promenade.

Before leaving this incident we were relocated to the Gynn again to concerns of a another person entering the water. After a thorough search of the beach the casualty was located on the promenade and left in the care of the ambulance service..

Before the night was over for us at, midnight our assistance was requested by Lancashire Police to help search of an at risk missing person in the Cleveleys area. We attended again with HM Coastguard Lytham.

We split into 3 search teams and 2 vehicles and searched between Rossall and Norbreck. The casualty was located by the police inland we were able to stand down and get to our beds at about 02:40.

Over all a very busy night for all the emergency services involved.
