
A man has been arrested after a standoff with Armed Police Officers in Blackburn.
The incident took place at a property on Bolton Road in the town shortly before 9pm on Tuesday, 30th April.
The road was sealed off by officers at B&Q with the scene stretching around 200 yards up Bolton Road, the car park for B&Q was also closed to prevent members of the public getting closer to the scene.
A local takeaway was forced to close early as a result of the incident.

A member of the public at the scene cordon told us that a male was inside one of the flats that are above a row of shops and refusing to surrender to police, he lived at a nearby property and was told he could not gain access due to the area being closed.
Another member of the public who also lived within the cordon was shocked to see the road swarming with armed officers. He had just finished work and couldn’t access his property due to the incident.


The National Police Air Service was also hovering above the scene with local residents taking to social media for details of what was happening. The helicopter was then replaced with a drone that could be seen hovering for around an hour. Police officers could be heard banging on the door of the property and shouting ‘armed police’.
After approx 5 hours, the suspect appeared from the property and surrendered to police. Armed officers could be seen surrounding the male. He was then placed in handcuffs and led to a waiting police van.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said, “We were called at 8:20pm to reports of a man with a weapon in the street on Bolton Road in Blackburn.
Officers, including armed officers, attended and a man in his 40s from Blackburn was subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray. He is currently in custody.
