14-Year-Old Boy Dies In Critical Hainault Stabbing Incident

A large emergency response in East London this morning sees members of the public including two police officers injured in stabbing incident.

Police and other emergency services are in Hainault, east London at a serious incident in which a man armed with a samurai sword was arrested.

Metropolitan Police said, “We were called at shortly before 07:00hrs to reports a vehichle being driven into a house in the Thurlow Gardens area. There were reports people had been stabbed.

At this time we understand the suspect went onto attack other members of the public including two police officers.

We are awaiting an update on the condition of those injured.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested at the scene and is currently in custody.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said, ” This must of been a terrifying incident for those concerned.

I know the wider community will be feeling shock and alarm.

People will want to know what has happened and we will provide more information as soon as we can.

We do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the wider community. We are not looking for more suspects. This incident does not appear to be terror-related.

It is understood that five people including two police officers have been taken to hospital. Their injuries have not yet been confirmed.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak posted on X saying, “This is a shocking incident. My thoughts are with those affected and their families.

I’d like to thank the emergency services for their ongoing response, and pay tribute to the extraordinary bravery shown by police on the scene.

Such violence has no place on our streets.

Police have released an update, sadly a 14- year-old boy has died as a result of being stabbed in this incident.

Two police officers are receiving treatment in hospital after suffering serious stab wounds, their injuries although serious are not thought to be life threatening.

Two other members of the public were also taken to hospital with stab wounds, police confirmed their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
