Police are advising motorists to avoid the area and anticipate the motorway to be closed for some time after a lorry reportedly crashed into the central reservation.
Lancashire Police said, “We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on the M6 Southbound carriageway between J36 and J35.
The road is closed due to a road traffic collision and we anticipate this will be closed for some time.
We’ll provide an update once cleared and thank you in advance for your patience.
