Breaking: Man Charged With The Murder Of Kulsuma Akter

Breaking news just in: A man who sparked a nationwide manhunt after the killing of a woman whilst pushing her baby son in a pram on a Bradford street has been charged with her Murder.

Habibur Masum, 25, , was being hunted by police after it is alleged he stabbed his victim to death in front of her baby. The attack happened around 3:21pm whilst Kulsuma Akter was pushing a pram down Westagte at the junction with Drewton Road in Bradford on Sunday 6th April.

Masum with links to Oldham, Burnley and Cheshire was eventually located and arrested in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire in the early hours of Tuesday 9th April.

WYP said, “Detectives investigating the murder of Kulsuma Akter in Bradford on Saturday 6 April have charged a man with her murder. 

Habibur Masum, 25, of Leamington Avenue, Burnley has been charged tonight (Wednesday, 10 April) with murder and possession of a bladed article.

He has been remanded into custody to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday, 11 April).

A 23-year-old man arrested in the Cheshire area on Monday on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released on bail.

Four other men were arrested in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire on suspicion of assisting an offender and drug offences. The men aged 23, 26, 28, and 29, from the West Midlands area, are currently in custody.

According to court papers it is understood that Masum was currently on court bail for threats to kill and assault charges against Kulsuma.

West Yorkshire Police & Greater Manchester Police had since referred themselves to The Independent Office for Police Conduct due to previous contact they had with Habibur Masum and Kulsuma Akter.
